Very little is known of the hulking man who goes by the monicker of Sledgehammer. What is known is Sledgehammer was once a construction worker called Christopher Smith. Chris had a drug abuse problem as well as an addiction to steriods. One night, Chris took a near lethal combination of meph and steriods. The drugs went to work immediately on his system, altering his musculature and nervous system. The drugs destroyed Chris's mind while at the same time built up his body. The end result was the man known as Chris was dead, now he was the being known as Sledgehammer.
